National Leader Bill English has announced the appointment of Katherine Rich as the party's new Tourism spokesperson.
Mrs Rich replaces Hon John Luxton who is retiring this election after 15 years in Parliament.
"Tourism is a huge foreign exchange earner for New Zealand and a major supplier of job opportunities. The sector is a key part of what the rest of the world sees as the New Zealand brand," says Mr English.
"I know Katherine Rich will bring to the portfolio the energy and marketing flair needed to support and promote New Zealand tourism, much of which is driven by dedicated small businesspeople. I am confident she will relate well to the variety of people involved in the sector.
"I would also like to pay tribute to the experience John Luxton has brought to the role of National's Tourism spokesperson," says Mr English.
