ACT Tax Policy Delivers More to Teachers than Labour Government and PPTA
Thursday 6 Jun 2002 Donna Awatere Huata Press Releases -- Education
The ACT tax package would deliver a bigger pay-rise to teachers than the Government's offer to the PPTA, ACT Education Spokesman MP Donna Awatere Huata revealed today.
"Our taxation policy gives every working New Zealander a pay rise. A teacher on $40,000 will receive an immediate boost of $670 - that's $134 more in cold hard cash than the Government's offer to PPTA.
"This pay rise for teachers is on top of devolved funding, which will deliver even more to good teachers.
"In our Economic and Taxation policy we make an important pledge: ACT will not reduce education spending by a single cent.
"Our soon-to-be-launched education policy and our taxation policy reflect the ACT core belief that New Zealand kids deserve decent teachers in the front of their classrooms," Mrs Awatere Huata said.
