Election Date Should be set in Legislation
Party Leader Graham Capill has criticised the Prime Minister for her failure to announce an election date.
Mr Capill said, “The Prime Minister is playing silly political games with a serious event.
“It is contrary to the interests of democracy to allow this situation to occur every election. It gives the party or
parties in power an unfair advantage.
“Our supporters are disturbed that a Leader of another political party can hold everyone in suspense until such time as
she deems appropriate, or that suits her own political agenda.
“We call upon Parliament to pass legislation that gives certainty to election dates by establishing a fixed day. There
could be exceptions in time of crises.” Mr Capill concluded.
