Alliance Leader Laila Harré has welcomed Liz Gordon's announcement that she will stand for Parliament again this year.
"This is great news for the Alliance, for students, for teachers and for parents. Liz has an unequalled record as a political advocate for quality public education. We need her here and I am thrilled she's staying".
Laila Harré said the Alliance will be pitching itself as "The Education Party" in the election campaign.
"Liz brings real credibility to our claim that we have the strongest commitment of any party to a free and high quality public education system from early childhood to tertiary study and vocational training. She is a world expert on the impact of inequality on school performance."
"A massive investment in education is essential if we are to achieve the goal of getting New Zealand back into the top half of the OECD. "
