Let’s Really Check The Cheque: Peters

New Zealand First Leader, Rt Hon Winston Peters wishes to ask some questions that others should be asking about the cheque that never arrived.
“Why doesn’t the Serious Fraud Office find out who the payers considered they were paying? Precisely into which account was the cheque deposited? On whose behalf was the cheque then held? What was the cheque for? What then happened to this money? Where is the audit trail? The inquiry would be illuminating and is surely called for if Mr. Cox is saying that Mr. Thompson was ordered to pay over the money. Was he? Did he? Was there any connection between the payment of this cheque and the Winebox enquiry that was proceeding at the time?
“Why aren’t the media asking these questions? Could it be that they do not want to know the answers? The answers are compelling but the implications should be frightening for all New Zealanders,” said Mr. Peters.
