The Green Party will today release the first three initiatives negotiated between the Greens and the Government.
Green co-leader Jeanette Fitzsimons said the Greens had worked co-operatively with Government ministers throughout the
Budget process and the result was a number of Green initiatives in key areas.
Today's announcements include:
* Sue Bradford launching a programme that enables the placement of paid staff into community organisations and the
voluntary sector on six month internships. $535,000 has been allocated for this;
* Sue Kedgley will announce the establishment of an internet database containing the latest international research
on complementary and alternative health therapies. $600,000 has been allocated for this project over four years;
* Nandor Tanczos will make a joint announcement with the Minister of Youth Affairs on the establishment of a drug
education project.
Statements on these three initiatives follow.
"The Greens have secured a number of other initiatives in key areas such as the environment, health, biosecurity and the
arts," said Ms Fitzsimons.
"This has been a rewarding process which has resulted in the advancement of important Green goals. These initiatives and
the ones which will follow will make a real difference to all sectors of the community and the environment."
