Was Maori TV Set Up To Fail?

John Davy's appointment and dismissal show why the Government should not be involved in broadcasting, ACT Broadcasting Spokesman MP Penny Webster said today.
"The Government set up this taxpayer-funded station against all common sense. Having spent public money so contentiously, the Ministers and their appointed officials didn't pay any attention.
"Helen Clark and her Ministers are blaming a human resources firm, but that smacks of buck passing. Where were the Ministers and the Board when Mr Davy was entrusted with executive control of a $34 million television station?
"How much has Mr Davy been paid, and how much will it cost to get rid of him?
"This entire debacle is a reminder of Aotearoa Television. Now the question must be asked - has this station been set up to succeed, or has it just been set up?" Mrs Webster asked.
