Sue Kedgley To Give Submission On Food Standards Changes
Green Safe Food spokesperson Sue Kedgley will present a submission to the foreign affairs, defence and trade select committee tomorrow at 9.20am.
The comittee is considering amendments to the Australian New Zealand Joint Food Standards Treaty which changes the rules around setting food standards and disbands the Australian New Zealand Food Authority (ANZFA).
Ms Kedgley says the proposed amendments would change the entire structure of the way decisions are made about the food we eat, and give more power to the food industry and business interests.
She is very concerned that the changes are being made by a treaty, and that New Zealanders do not have the same rights as Australians to debate, vote and make amendments to the proposed changes.
Sue Kedgley will make her submission at G.009, tomorrow at 9.20am.
GE Free New Zealand and Friends of the Earth will also make submissions in the 45 minutes set aside for public input.
