National strongly supports proposals to bring the tax treatment of MPs
remuneration in line with that of every other New Zealander, National's
Shadow Leader of the House Gerry Brownlee said today.
"Current anomalies in the way that MPs receive remuneration have developed
over many years and it is time for the inconsistencies in tax treatment on
some aspects of remuneration to be rectified.
"We anticipate legislation being brought to the House soon, then sent to a
select committee and passed into law prior to July 1 this year," he said.
