Zimbabwe's Suspension Strongly Supported

Published: Wed 20 Mar 2002 02:58 PM

"Although the Commonwealth's move is not a full suspension, it is an important start. It is also very pleasing that fellow African nations are now telling Robert Mugabe his actions are unacceptable.
"What is happening in Zimababwe is a tragedy. Hopefully this international pressure will be the first step in restoring democracy, the rule of law and basic human rights for the citizens of Zimbabwe," said Dr Smith.
