Health Minister's Resignation Strongly Supported

Published: Thu 14 Mar 2002 09:40 AM
Health Minister Annette King has offered to return to her former career as a Dental nurse, in order to fix the disgraceful state of Northland children's teeth. The Minister told Parliament yesterday "if it means taking up the drill again, I am happy to do that."
The suggestion has been warmly endorsed by National's Associate Health spokesperson, Dr Paul Hutchison.
"This is the best idea Annette King has had since she took over health. I'm sure there are many health professionals who would also support this career change for the Minister.
"It will be a great chance for her to finally contribute something positive to healthcare in New Zealand, instead of continually plunging our District Health Boards into deficit.
"I will even help pack her bags," said Dr Hutchison.
