United Future In Election Planning Mode

Published: Thu 21 Feb 2002 01:41 PM
United Future's key personnel will be meeting in Taupo this weekend for a detailed strategy and election planning session.
United Future leader, Hon Peter Dunne, says a there will be a full meeting of the party's board, followed by a weekend planning session involving more than 30 key United Future regional co-ordinators and spokespeople from around the country.
"This is our equivalent of the extended Caucuses some of the other parties have held to plan their tactics for the coming year."
"We will be covering the likely twists and turns of the year ahead; broad election planning and strategy."
"The recent meltdown within the Alliance has confirmed the need for a centre party like United Future to contribute to stable and sensible government, and provides a real opportunity for us, which will not be far from delegates' minds," he says.
Mr Dunne says this weekend's meeting will be followed by a series of regional meetings over the next few months, culminating in United Future's annual conference to be held in August.
