Anderton Attempting To Influence Tribunal

Published: Fri 15 Feb 2002 11:39 AM
ACT leader Richard Prebble has written to the Attorney General and the Solicitor General calling for immediate action on Deputy Prime Minister Jim Anderton's attempts to give evidence to the Employment Tribunal via the media.
"Mr Anderton's statements are the most blatant attempt I've ever seen by a politician to influence a judicial tribunal. He's clearly in contempt," Mr Prebble said.
"Mr Anderton should front up and give evidence to the Tribunal where he could be cross-examined about Ms Lee's behaviour towards her employee.
"Instead, he's attempting to suggest to the Tribunal that the claims made are extortion and that Ms Lee should be believed because Mr Anderton says she's got good character," Mr Prebble said.
