Jim Anderton Misleads House

Published: Wed 13 Feb 2002 01:41 PM
"In his wild desperation to find friends to support State-led science, Jim Anderton has misled Parliament," ACT Deputy Leader Ken Shirley said today.
"Yesterday in the debate on the Prime Minister's statement responding to Bill English, Jim Anderton claimed that the Head of Diatranz - a leading biotechnology company - was supportive of his State-led innovation strategies and would be attending and addressing a biotechnology conference organised by his Ministries.
"Today I have been assured by the Managing Director of Diatranz, David Collinson, that no-one from Diatranz has been invited to attend or address Jim's conference. Mr Anderton has either mixed up his companies or he is making it up," Ken Shirley said.
