National Party Leader Bill English today paid tribute to the huge contribution Jenny Shipley has given to both New Zealand and the National Party following the announcement that she intends to retire from politics after this year's election.
"This great contribution resulted in her achieving much both for her country and herself including becoming New Zealand's first woman Prime Minister.
"The National Party will miss her broad knowledge of government and in particular her experience and drive.
'Since stepping down from the party leadership Mrs Shipley has shown real integrity and loyalty to the National party and that is something that I truly respect.
'We all wish her well for what ever new career path she chooses to follow in the future," says Mr English.
