Mene continuing with Sting welcomed
Leader of the Opposition and Clutha-Southland MP Bill English said today it was very pleasing to hear that former Silver Ferns and Southern Sting captain Bernice Mene would be continuing to play for the Sting this year.
Mr English said Mene had been a great international player for New Zealand over many years and would be missed representing the Ferns. "I'm delighted Bernice is continuing to play for Southern Sting. Her leadership of the team, and the fantastic successes which have followed from this, have been wonderful for Southland.
"Bernice has helped make Southland netball crowds famous for their support and Southland in turn now proudly claims her as their own.
"Southlanders are delighted Bernice is staying with the Sting and are already looking forward to another great year of exciting netball," Mr English said.
