“Auckland has lost a strong advocate and leader with the death of Auckland Regional Council Chair Phil Warren today”, said Transport Minister Mark Gosche.
“Phil has made a tremendous contribution to the long term transport needs of Auckland and his loss will be felt by all.
“ I have worked closely with Phil Warren over these last two years, especially on the work needed to secure Auckland’s rail network.
“ It is now our job as Auckland politicians to follow through on the work of Phil Warren to ensure his dreams are fulfilled,” Mr Gosche said.
