ACT Commerce Spokesman Stephen Franks says the timing of tomorrow's Government response to Business Compliance Costs suggests there will be little favourable for business in the announcement.
"This announcement has been delayed and delayed. If it was favourable they would not risk it getting no attention in the frantic last week before the Christmas break.
"By dropping its announcement a week before Christmas when everybody's minds are on other matters the Government must be hoping any negatives in the response won't get the attention they deserve.
"But I think it's clear. Businesses hoping for some relief from the crippling compliance costs shouldn't hold their breath early Christmas presents," Stephen Franks said.
