Alliance position on cannabis decriminalisation welcomed
Green Justice Spokesperson Nandor Tanczos today welcomed news that the Alliance has voted to support the decriminalisation of cannabis at the party's annual conference over the weekend.
Nandor said he was pleased the Alliance membership had committed to cannabis law reform, saying it was the only sensible option for a party with any kind of commitment to social justice.
However he warned that simply moving to instant fines could have a net-widening effect. In Australia this system has resulted in more people being busted than under full prohibition.
