McLeod Report should not be wasted
The Government is ignoring the million dollar McLeod Report on tax because it doesn't fit Labour's ideology, but National will use it as a tax resource, National's Revenue spokesperson Annabel Young said today.
"Labour has rejected the big picture in the Report and is just sniffing around the edges.
"The 'McLeod Report' endorses National's vision of a low tax economy that rewards effort. Over time, we need to shift to a lower tax burden and lower tax rates.
"The Report also endorses National's vision of an incremental pathway to get us to a lower tax economy. It is about where we should be going.
"We need to compete with other OECD economies which have all shifted to lower total taxes over time," Annabel Young said.
