Airways Corp pay rises make mockery of government promises
New Zealand First Leader, Rt Hon Winston Peters, is expressing disgust at the exorbitant salary rises in the Airways
Corporation.
"Despite promises by Helen Clark before the election that her Government would stop the rises in salaries in the public
sector, we have seen the Airways Corporation CEO's salary jump from $210,000 to $380,000 in just four years. This makes
a total mockery of Labour's assurances," said Mr Peters.
"It is time for this Government to walk the walk over salaries and cut these outrageous wage rises.
According to the Annual reports of the Airways Corporation, CEO Craig Sinclair was paid:
* $210,000 in 1996/97;
* $260,000-270,000 in 1997/98;
* $280,000-290,000 in 1998/99;
* $320,000-330,000 in 1999/00;
* $370,000-380,000 in 2000/01
