Trevor Mallard plays footy with the Kingz
Friday, 19 October 10:00 am – 11:00am
Trevor Mallard will meet with the football team Kingz, right before they jet over to Australia looking for their first win of the new season.
He will be talking with Kingz’ new coach Mike Petersen - coach of the year for South Melbourne last season. He’ll meet players like Wyton Rufer - Oceania footballer of the century. Eight or nine All Whites will also be training, along with several overseas signings.
The team fly out later Friday afternoon for their third game in the Australian National Soccer league season.
Trevor Mallard’s last game of soccer was in a tournament against teams from Jim Anderton and Michael Cullen’s office, where the team he led came last.
“I hope the Kingz have much better luck in their games than I did,” Trevor Mallard said.
Media are welcome to attend the Kingz training and there will be time afterwards for photos and interviews with the Minister and Kingz.
The team practice is at Ericcson Stadium, Auckland, (drive in entrance of Beazley Ave.)
