Nats Now Believe Next Election is Winnable
Monday, October 8 2001 Richard Prebble Press Releases -- Governance & Constitution
Jenny Shipley has made a sensible decision in deciding not to contest the National Party leadership, ACT leader Richard
Prebble says.
"Mrs Shipley has had a distinguished career and will forever have a special place in New Zealand's history as the first
woman Prime Minister," Mr Prebble said.
"Ironically, I believe the National Party leadership has come to a head because the National caucus now believes the
next election is winnable.
"There's been a sea change in public opinion and it's clear the centre-right can now win the next election," Mr Prebble
said.
