Protect Dolphins And Humans: NZ First
New Zealand First is calling for a full scale independent investigation into the extension of bans to set net fishing in New Zealand’s coastal waters.
“Our Party is absolutely in favour of environmental species protection, but we are against reactionary policies based on suspect data, ill conceived research and dubious conclusions, which needlessly remove the right of our fishers and endanger human life,” New Zealand First Leader, Rt Hon Winston Peters said today.
“There needs to be better research, more meaningful consultation with the fishing industry and recreational fishers, reassessment of the scope of the ban, and greater consideration of alternatives.
“Let’s protect both species,” Mr Peters said.
