Alliance Supports Good Faith Negotiations And Collective Bargaining For Sanford Workers
14 July 2001
Canterbury Alliance MP Kevin Campbell will speak to striking Sanford fisheries workers in Timaru on Saturday 14 July.
"The Alliance supports workers rights to negotiate for a collective multi-site agreement and a reasonable wage.
"Being on strike is causing much hardship for the Sanford workers and I urge all involved to sort out this dispute as quickly as possible.
"If Sanfords can have a multi-site agreement for their North Island workers, I believe they should be considering a multi-site agreement for their South Island workers too.
"The Alliance also believes that workers in the same jobs should receive the same pay and conditions," said Kevin Campbell MP.
Kevin Campbell MP will speak to workers and their supporters on Saturday 14 July when they arrive at Strathallan St, Work and Income office after marching from Hydro Corner in Timaru. The march starts at 11am.
