NZ contributes to disaster relief across the globe
New Zealand is giving $1.6 million to New Zealand non-government organisations for disaster relief projects, Associate
Foreign Affairs Minister Matt Robson announced today.
The grants are made through the New Zealand Official Development Assistance programme. The funding comes from the
NZODA’s emergency and disaster relief allocation.
"The grants recognise the valuable role that NGOs play in international disaster relief activities,” Matt Robson said.
Grants have been approved to support work by
- Caritas: Bougainville, Trauma Counselling and Training; Eritrea Drought Relief
- Christian World Service: Solomon Islands, Assistance to Displaced Persons; Zimbabwe, Emergency Management Training
- Adventist Development and Relief Agency: Pakistan, Refugee Support
- Oxfam NZ: India, Earthquake Rebuilding
- TearFund: Sudan, Assistance to Displaced Persons
- World Vision: India, Emergency Management Training; Uganda, Malaria Control; Zambia, Capacity Building for Disaster
