Education Minister Trevor Mallard is launching one of the four Government-Business digital opportunities projects at Te
Papa on Tuesday 26 June.
Students from Wainuiomata and Parkway schools will be the first of 200 hundred students and teachers from four Hutt
Valley high schools to receive laptop computers.
"This is part of a two year trial to assess the effectiveness of this technology in enhancing the teaching and learning
of science and mathematics at senior levels," Trevor Mallard said.
"It is one of four projects in a Government-Business joint venture that covers a range of technologies and internet
delivery systems in a variety of school situations.
“The projects are a partnership between education and business and reflect the absolute need for us to work together to
deliver skills necessary for our children to succeed in the new knowledge based world," Trevor Mallard said.

What: Students and staff will be issued with the computers and there will be a demonstration of the possibilities they
will bring to classroom teaching including contacting scientists at Scott base and using the internet to investigate DNA
and wave motion as well as maths applications.
