New Zealand First Leader, Rt Hon Winston Peters today tabled documents in Parliament which point to the Prime Minister
or her legal team as the source of a leak to Television New Zealand of the confidential agreement clause with John
Yelash.
“The document shown on Television One News on the 10th of May was never in the possession of Mr Yelash or his lawyers.
It is also different to the one tabled by Attorney General Margaret Wilson,” said Mr Peters.
“I have tabled today the document from Mr Yelash’s counsel, which contrasts with the leaked document shown on
television.
The Television One document shown on television differs in the following manner:
- The letter from Mr Yelash has the phrase “Without Prejudice Draft” stamped on it. The television document has in
handwriting the word “draft’ and two further comments in handwriting in the column of the document.
“The leaked document must have come from Miss Clark’s side and since the House was told on 16 May that the Attorney
General was conducting an investigation into who leaked it, the question must be asked “who was the leaker?’
“ One of the parties to the agreement leaked it. It could not have been Mr Yelash or his team, as the Attorney General
told Parliament on 15th May Why has the Solicitor General’s investigation drawn a blank when the handwriting on the
Television One document clearly points to a culprit?,” concluded Mr Peters.
