Young Nats Conference Opened By 'Young MP'

Published: Thu 5 Apr 2001 02:48 PM
The Young National's Conference in Wellington was opened today by former Young National Annabel Young MP.
"Young Nationals are the future leaders of the National Party including MPs, Party Presidents and Party officeholders.
"Young people at the conference have a great challenge ahead. They have the opportunity to work with the party to achieve the sort of future they want for New Zealand.
"I still remember the first time I went to a Young Nationals conference. In those days Murray McCully was the New Zealand President of the Young National's - so you can tell it was a while ago!
"I remember being excited by the possibilities and opportunities for New Zealand that we discussed at that meeting. I went to the conference for social reasons but I left inspired to become involved in politics - and now I'm an MP," Annabel Young told the conference.
Annabel Young challenged each of the conference delegates to pick up the political challenges. "Don't be shy. Don't be scared. Have fun."
