Greens Have Red Faces After Question Time Blunder

ACT MP Conservation Spokesman Gerry Eckhoff said the Green Party’s latest blatant attempt to mislead New Zealanders had
blown up in its face.
“The Greens consistently try to bend truth to fit in with their dogmatic approach. Today, they got caught in the act
during Parliamentary Question time.
“Green MP Jeanette Fitzsimons planned to paint Canadian farmer Percy Schmeiser as a poor farmer being picked on by a
nasty biotech company, in a question to the Minister for the Environment.
“It amazes me that Ms Fitzsimons would have the gall to ask this question, when the facts clearly show that this is a
clear-cut case of patent law. Percy Schmeiser – the ‘poor farmer’ – had been taken to court for breaching patent law.
“Yet again, Ms Fitzsimons intended to scaremonger with no regard for the truth.
“When the facts were presented, the Speaker had no option but to rule out the Green Party’s only question for the day.
“Green MPs must learn that they can no longer expect the public to let them bend facts to suit their political purpose.
“The Green Party’s credibility has plunged as a result of ‘own goals’ like today’s.
