Protection Of The Law Extends To MPs’ Families - Peters
The Rt Hon Winston Peters MP, Leader of New Zealand First, today said that whilst he did not want to get into any of the personal politics that National and Labour are presently engaging in he said it was of concern that matters regarding Health Minister Annette King’s daughter had either been leaked by the Police or the National Party is lying.
Mr Peters said that Police Minister George Hawkins should be demanding to know who leaked this information, if it in fact was a Police leak. All New Zealanders, including MPs and their families, are entitled to the protection of the law and to be presumed innocent until such a time that guilt has been proven.
“Whilst not passing judgement one way or the other on the `so-called information’ thus far, it is of concern the degree to which MPs’ families are increasingly being used as political footballs,” said Mr Peters.
