Minister of Revenue Michael Cullen still refuses to release official information on work by officials on changes to the tax treatment of Research and Development, National's Revenue spokesperson Annabel Young said today.
Annabel Young has been asking for information on the changes to the tax treatment of Research and Development since 26 September last year. The Minister announced the Government's changes to tax laws today.
"I have been waiting for six months so far. In the meantime, the Minister has announced the taxation policy but even the information relating to these announcements is too secret to be released to me. What is the Minister trying to hide?" Annabel Young said.
Annabel Young has complained to the Ombudsman about Dr Cullen's refusal to provide the official information. But, even the Ombudsman has been stonewalled by Michael Cullen.
"Dr Cullen is contemptuous of the Official Information process. There is no valid reason to withhold this information," Annabel Young said.
