What Next, Feng Shui?

Published: Thu 8 Mar 2001 04:50 PM
National's Housing spokesperson David Carter is stunned at Labour MP and former Labour Housing spokesman Graham Kelly's proposal to turn all state houses to face the sun.
"What next, a feng shui consultant visiting all state houses?
"Surely the Government's top priority would be building more houses to reduce the burgeoning waiting lists, not spending more than $6,000 to move each house and who knows how much to move roads!
"Many older houses, not just state owned ones, were not positioned for sun. That's the reality of old homes. Most new houses are built with sun in mind. To suggest spending tens of millions of dollars of taxpayers money to fix a problem many New Zealanders experience is ludicrous.
"Graham Kelly will join the Matt Robson hall of fame for this one," Mr Carter said.
