Hobbs leaps out of the frying pan...

Published: Tue 6 Mar 2001 05:11 PM
"The Registrar of Electors' ruling that Marian Hobbs was correctly enrolled as a voter in Wellington Central has taken her out of the frying pan and into the fire, ACT Leader and former Wellington Central MP," Hon Richard Prebble said.
"The requirement for registration in Wellington Central was that Ms Hobbs was making her family home there. This means her claim for an out-of-town allowance cannot be correct."
"It is widely believed that the Crown Law advice to the Prime Minister was that if Ms Hobbs registration in Wellington Central is valid, then her claim for out of Wellington expenses cannot be legal."
"Helen Clark will not be inviting Ms Hobbs back into Cabinet," Richard Prebble said.
