Green MPs will work with at-risk youth, intellectually disabled adults, trade aid and fire recovery to mark Volunteer
Week.
In Auckland, Green youth affairs spokesperson Nandor Tanczos will help at risk youth who live at the Te Whare Rangimarie
Trust move house on the North Shore.
Sue Bradford, who has many years of volunteering behind her, will work with Kotare Trust.
Keith Locke will work in the Trade Aid shop in Henderson Mall. Mr Locke has had a long relationship with Trade Aid. He
was co-manager of the now-closed Karangahape Road shop, leaving there for parliament in 1999.
In Christchurch Greens co-leader Rod Donald will work with the Special Persons Alternative Needs Charitable Trust (SPAN)
which provides work and training for about 100 adults with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities.
In Marlborough, Ian Ewen-Street is working with the Fire Recovery Coordinator, Chris Le Cren, who is helping farmers in
the wake of the fires around New Year, during the on-going drought.
All MPs have been challenged to do more than four hours voluntary work for Volunteer Awareness Week. Although the week,
part of the International Year of Volunteers, is next week (March 11-18) MPs are taking advantage of the parliamentary
recess to do their bit early.
