Jim Anderton Feeds the Bureaucracy

Bureaucracy is swallowing up Regional Development funding supposed to create jobs and growth, Local Government Spokesman Owen Jennings said today.
“The Deputy Prime Minister’s announcement of funding for five regions of up to $200,000 per region is a sop to unproductive bureaucratic consultants eager to sock the taxpayers.
“If the Deputy PM is hell-bent on dishing out the taxpayer’s hard-earned money, he could at least give it to someone who actually creates export products or jobs.
“Better still, he could remove the obstacles to New Zealand entrepreneurs and investors. These people could do far more for regional development than he will ever achieve.
“Reducing tax and compliance costs like those created by the Resource Management Act would be a good starting point,” Owen Jennings said.
