National MP Lockwood Smith today announced that he would not be contesting the Deputy Leadership of the National Party.
"It is positive that there is competition for the position. However, I believe that it should be a clean contest between two candidates only.
"I have tremendous confidence in both candidates and look forward to working with whoever wins the caucus' vote," Dr Smith said.
