National and Greypower welcome talks
National Leader Jenny Shipley and the President of Greypower have today met to discuss issues facing older New Zealanders and the retired.
"We've been meeting Greypower groups across the country since National's annual conference in August. We've welcomed being able to have frank an open talks.
"There is a sense of a fresh start with the relationships between National and older New Zealanders. The meeting with the President and other senior Greypower members confirms those sentiments.
"Today's meeting was a good opportunity for me to get members of my team together to examine the issues at a senior level," Mrs Shipley said.
The President of Greypower John Jefferson said the meeting was a significant step forward.
"National Leader Jenny Shipley approached Greypower to encourage dialogue. We welcome her approach and are pleased National is engaging in constructive talks," Mr Jefferson said.
"We have been impressed with National's willingness to come to the table to work on ways to resolve issues facing older New Zealanders," he said
