Police Action Against Corruption Within The IRD Is Urgently Needed - Peters
“It is most regrettable that the events revealed leading to the apology by the acting Head of IRD yesterday, to Mr and
Mrs Willis, did not include the evidence of forgery and blind reliance upon ‘doctored’ material,” claimed New Zealand
First Leader and Member for Tauranga, Rt Hon Winston Peters.
“The suggestion that Mr & Mrs Willis should simply accept an apology and minimal compensation when those responsible are left in their positions
to carry on with their dishonest stand-over tactics, towards other innocent taxpayers is outrageous.
“It is right for the Government to openly speak of compensation so quickly, but they must also demonstrate their
conviction to drive out from the bowels of IRD, those responsible who have acted in such a dishonest and reprehensible
manner over this case.
“Upon learning of these matters, I alerted the Police, to my concerns of perjury, forgery and the misleading of the
Courts and Parliament. These complaints were upheld, the Police finding that evidence had been interfered with.
“I am attaching a copy of my letter of June 1999, to the New Zealand Police, alleging forgery and fraud in this case, in
order to show the seriousness of the matter,” concluded Mr Peters.
