Local MP welcomes Commerce Commission decision on Turoa
The MP for Taupo Mark Burton has welcomed the Commerce Commission decision to allow Ruapehu Alpine Lifts Ltd to buy the Turoa Ski Resort from its receivers.
"This is excellent news, after several very difficult years for all those involved with the ski industry in the Central North Island," Mark Burton said.
"RAL has a well-established and credible record as a skifield operator and a demonstrated commitment to the communities of the Central North Island.
"There is an overwhelming public interest in ensuring that Ruapehu skifields can be developed and operated effectively. That is why, as local MP, I have been a strong supporter of the bid by RAL to acquire the assets and operations of Turoa skifield.
"I am thrilled that commonsense has prevailed," Mark Burton said.
