NEWS ADVISORY
Monday Madness!!
Liz Gordon knocks down walls in Christchurch City
and then goes further afield
Liz Gordon will be doing a three city trip this week to celebrate Mental Health Awareness week around the country.
“Some may find it ironic that a person who used to be a housebound agoraphobic now spends her time leaping from city to city. As a young adult I thought I’d never even be able to leave my house, let alone travel without fear around the country”, said Liz Gordon.
“Now I see it as a key part of my role to knock down the barriers for other people suffering from debilitating mental illnesses”.
In Christchurch Liz will be knocking down walls at the intersection of Cashel and High Streets at 12.30 p.m. on Monday 9 October.
She will be “breaking it down” at the Auckland Town Hall on Tuesday night at 8 p.m.
Finally, on Wednesday she will be marching along Wellington streets (in a no-stress way) with the disability Minister, Ruth Dyson, to advertise Mental Health week in the capital.
Liz said that the ‘Like Minds, Like Mine’ advertising campaign, with its “beautiful images of people living normal lives” was the first step in a renewed effort to help all people in the community understand and deal with mental illness.
“This week is step two. Further stories and documentaries are planned”.
