TVNZ CHARTER NONSENSICAL DRIVEL - PETERS
The TVNZ draft charter is an essay in political correctness and cultural drivel, the New Zealand First Leader, Rt Hon Winston Peters said today.
“The emphasis on ethnic programmes is another example of social apartheid and most New Zealanders will regard this document as being another example of the Government’s divisive policies.
“There is no doubt the standard of television in this country leaves a lot to be desired but this attempt at social engineering will not improve viewing.”
Mr Peters also said most people had been waiting patiently for the Government to deliver on its promise of reducing the salaries of the TVNZ mega-stars.
“Each night viewers watch the news programmes on TVNZ they are reminded of the huge salaries these people pay themselves.
“They will remember how Helen Clark said that this was abhorrent and that something must be done,” said Mr Peters.
