Alexandra Package

Deputy Prime Minister Jim Anderton and Energy Minister Pete Hodgson will visit Alexandra tomorrow [Tuesday, 12 September] to announce the Government's contribution to address flood problems in Alexandra and surrounding areas.
Last week the Government and Contact Energy signed a Deed providing for construction of flood barriers to protect the main parts of Alexandra and the purchase of certain flood prone properties, or of easements over properties where flood protection works are not practical.
The Government has since considered some enhancement of community amenities, as well as the flood protection measures specified in the Deed.
The Ministers will announce the package to community and local body representatives. A media briefing will follow.
