I have not made any press statements about the police investigation into allegations made against Mr Samuel’s, said ACT
Leader, Hon Richard Prebble.
“I have seen the media comments by Mr Samuel’s and I note that he says that the police inquiriy is not yet complete. So
I do not believe it is appropriate for me to make any comment.
“I do believe it is appropriate for me to comment on the Prime Minister’s actions. I observe that she chose to publicise
the fact that I had written privately to the Minister of Police and herself, setting out the allegations that had been
made.
“I observe that had she followed my suggestion on how to deal with the matter, then she would not find herself in her
current position.
“Without entering the debate over Mr Samuel’s suitability to be a Minister it is incorrect for him to claim that I, or
the ACT party, have at any time requested his resignation or called for him to be sacked.
“Parliamentary records show that I cautioned the Prime Minister against taking any action until the Police inquiries
were complete,” said Hon Richard Prebble.
