The thoughts of New Zealand will be with the family of Private Leonard Manning who was tragically killed in action in East Timor, says Hon Peter Dunne, leader United New Zealand.
"My thoughts are with the family and relatives of Private Manning at this time of tragedy and huge loss. I extend my sympathy to his family.
"The death of a soldier on peacekeeping duties in East Timor is a timely reminder of the danger our servicemen and women are constantly facing in the difficult environment over there.
"My thoughts also go out especially to Private Manning's battalion and all his fellow men and women who will also be feeling loss and grief at this time," says Mr Dunne.
