Carter Holt Harvey and Government to work together for Mataura
Officials from the Ministry of Economic Development will cooperate with Carter Holt Harvey to offer the Mataura community assistance in planning for the area's economic development.
Deputy Prime Minister Jim Anderton met with CHH chief executive Chris Liddell today and discussed opportunities for the government and CHH to work together with the community following the company's decision to mothball its Mataura plant.
"CHH has considerable expertise in business development planning. The MED is putting together programmes to assist communities to develop regional economies," Jim Anderton said.
"Today we agreed that officials from the Ministry will cooperate with CHH starting early next week to offer joint expertise to the community in the most appropriate way.
"I would like to take the opportunity to praise CHH for the constructive and responsible role it is playing, "Jim Anderton said
