Porirua health plan welcomed
"It is pleasing to see progress is being made on the work National started to improve health services in Porirua City,"
National's Health spokesperson Wyatt Creech said today.
"It is important that the local community and health providers get their heads around the draft health and disability
plan for Porirua City released today.
"We need to keep the momentum up on this project which was launched as part of the National Government's package to
improve hospital and health services in the Wellington region.
"Last September we announced the establishment of a project manager - Fran McGrath was appointed - to work with health
and disability networkers and providers to improve residents' access to the right care, at the right time in the right
place.
"We said then that getting more health services in the Porirua community was vital, and this medium-to-long-term Porirua
Health and Disability Plan was due to be presented to the Minister by April.
"The final plan was due to be implemented starting in the 2001/02 financial year. We can't afford to lose any of the
momentum."
