Get on with it Minister
Biosecurity Minister Marian Hobbs has twice today demonstrated her inability to make a decision in her biosecurity portfolio, says National's Biosecurity spokesperson David Carter.
"This morning Ms Hobbs announced a delay in the release of the used vehicle import standard and a further delay in announcing the decision on the varroa bee mite.
"The varroa bee mite was discovered twelve weeks ago. Every week Ms Hobbs is unable to make a decision, the problem for beekeepers gets worse and the less likely eradication will be possible. Beekeepers have their livelihoods hanging in the balance and the Government is toying with them by inaction.
"Indecision within the biosecurity portfolio is unacceptable. She's the Minister. She should act.
"Clearly Ms Hobbs still needs to appoint that minder the PM ordered if any decisions are going to be made from her office in time to make a difference," Mr Carter said.
