Maori Spectrum Trust Members Named

The Acting Minister of Communications Trevor Mallard and Acting Minister of Maori Affairs Parekura Horomia have named the members of the Maori Spectrum Charitable Trust.
They are:

Mr Neville Baker
Ms Gabrielle Huria
Mr Robert McLeod
Mr Paul Majurey
Ms Mavis Mullins
Mr Taari Nicholas
Mr Archie Taiaroa
Ms Jacqui Te Kani
Mr Hemi Toia
Mr Derek Wooster
Mr Tainui Stephens
Mr Haydn Edmonds
Bill Osborne, who has managed the Trust’s establishment group, has been appointed Chairman. Mr Osborne is the Chief Executive of Quotable Value New Zealand.
Parekura Horomia and Trevor Mallard said the Charitable Trust will be responsible for using the proceeds from the ownership of a management right to a block of 3rd generation radio spectrum.
“The Trust will use those proceeds to increase participation by Maori in the knowledge economy which will benefit Maori in the areas of social and economic development," they said.
The management right will be acquired following an auction of three other blocks of 3rd generation spectrum beginning on July 10.
