Richard Prebble
Media Release -- Economy
ACT leader Richard Prebble has called on the government to allow submissions on proposed changes to the Employment
Relations Bill.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, Mr Prebble said further consultation would result in “better law” and give certainty
to business, unsure of where the Bill was going.
“The proper way for the select committee to proceed would be for government to present a supplementary order paper to
the House containing the Cabinet amendments. There should then be an instruction to the committee that those who have
made submissions to the committee be given an opportunity to give evidence of the effect of any changes,” Mr Prebble
said.
Mr Prebble said witnesses before the select committee yesterday had asked that they be given the chance to comment on
any changes.
“It does not need to delay the Bill, but is more a chance to give those interested parties certainty as to what is in
the Bill and how it will affect them,” he said.
